There are many variations of Mahjong solitaire available to play for free in our mahjong games collection. The kids mode features fewer mahjong tiles to make it easier for kids to play.
There is no way to shuffle the tiles so you have to think about your moves. In Shanghai, Aces are either high or low depending on what the player wants it to be. The Shanghai Mahjong mode features the traditional 144 tile setup. It requires two decks of standard playing cards, including Jokers, and is suitable for ages 12 and up. Compared to many other card games I have encountered on the web, I found K9 Shanghai Rum to be top-notch and captivating. MaShanghai is a rummy type game with specific entry melds for two to four players. I used to do simple Visual Basic programming, this person likely used JavaScript to do this - (I am guessing) and I have to say kudos - it can NOT have been easy to handle all the variables and still make it ‘look good’. I have not tried the play with friends but enjoy playing versus the computer ‘bots’ (it is 4 handed because of the demands of showing all those cards on screen. Jokers can be anything, and I promise this game will capture your attention and you will be loving the genius programming that made it possible! Great way to practice your skills for when you are playing ‘for real’ with friends or relatives.
Best of all, each round features simple graphics showing you what is required to lay down your cards! A set is three of a kind (any suit) and a run is 4 sequential cards of the same suit. The graphics are stellar, navigation was almost instantly intuitive, and you are able to configure several settings in the setup screen. I was incredibly happy to find this wonderful game on the Apple App Store today and immediately loaded it up on my iPad 12.9.
